Char Dham Yatra by helicopter package

What the Package Price Doesn’t Cover: The Real Extras on a Char Dham Helicopter Yatra

A helicopter package covers a lot. It does not cover everything. Temple pujas, extra flying, body weight charges, and weather delays can all add to your final bill. This guide lists each extra so you can plan your money with no surprises.

Most families compare quotes only on the headline figure. That can mislead. Knowing what a Char Dham Yatra by helicopter package leaves out matters as much as knowing what it includes.

What Our Package Already Includes

Our yatra runs for 5 nights and 6 days, starting and ending in Dehradun. Before looking at extras, here is what the price already covers.

  • The headline price is per person and all-inclusive. Hotels, meals, and local transfers at each Dham are already part of it, so you do not pay for them again.
  • Our Char Dham Yatra by helicopter package also includes UCADA royalty, landing and parking charges, along with charter handling charges. These fees can otherwise appear as separate lines.
  • Priority darshan, local sightseeing with guides at all four Dhams, and a tour manager for every group departure are also part of the plan.

So the extras below are the things that sit outside this list.

Taxes on Anything Outside the Package

Our base package price is all-inclusive. But any service you add later carries its own GST, which can change the final Char Dham Yatra by helicopter price.

  • GST on helicopter travel on a seat share basis is 5%. A helicopter hired on charter attracts 18% GST, as per the GST Council’s 54th meeting.
  • Extra flying is a charter service. So it is billed with GST on top, along with UCADA royalty and landing charges.

Always ask for the tax amount in writing before you agree to any extra.

Extra Flying and Trip Extensions

Some families want more time or one more flight at the end of the yatra. These requests are priced separately.

  • Extra helicopter flying at the end of a tour is charged at ₹1,20,000 per hour. UCADA royalty, landing charges, and GST are added on top of this.
  • Any extension you ask for, such as an extra day or a changed plan, costs extra. It also depends on whether the operation is possible on that day.

Decide on extras before you book, not on the helipad.

Body Weight and Luggage Charges

Helicopters fly with strict weight limits. This is where many pilgrims meet an extra charge for the first time.

  • In 2026, the Ministry of Civil Aviation capped passenger load on Char Dham helicopters at 70% of maximum permissible capacity. That is why weight rules are now so strict.
  • Each helicopter can carry a maximum combined payload of 450 kg. Passengers above 75 kg pay ₹2,000 for every extra kg, so 82 kg means ₹14,000 extra.
  • Each pilgrim may carry one soft bag of up to 5 kg. Keep big suitcases at your Dehradun hotel and pack only what you need daily.

Weigh yourself and your bag a week before travel to avoid surprises.

Temple Costs Paid Separately

Priority darshan is part of our plan. Special pujas, though, are paid directly to the temple body.

  • Pujas at Kedarnath and Badrinath are booked with the Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC). Its website says yatra registration is a must before puja booking.
  • Puja rates are set by the temple committee, not by tour operators. Check the current rate on the official BKTC website and pay only through official channels.
  • Keep small cash for prasad, flowers, shoe stands, and donations. Mobile networks can be weak at the Dhams, so digital payments may not always work.

Keep a separate temple budget for these offerings.

Personal Extras Before and During the Yatra

Some costs depend only on your own choices and health. Plan for them early.

  • If you reach Dehradun a day early, that extra hotel night is your own cost. Ask us which nights the package covers before you book flights or trains.
  • Travel insurance is a personal purchase. Choose a policy that covers high-altitude travel and flight cancellations, and read its exclusions carefully.
  • Flying cuts the trek, not the altitude. Speak to a doctor before the trip and follow the health advisory on the Uttarakhand Tourism website.

Small personal costs add up, so keep a cushion in your budget.

Weather Delays and Buffer Days

Mountain weather decides when helicopters fly. When flights stop, waiting has a cost.

  • The Ministry of Civil Aviation calls the Char Dham sector one of India’s toughest flying zones. Rugged terrain, sudden weather changes and short flying windows make delays a normal part of the yatra.
  • Charter operations were capped in 2026. Even so, 2,065 charter flights carried 11,715 pilgrims in the first phase alone, so spare slots after a delay can be tight.
  • An unplanned night at a Dham or in Dehradun means an extra room and meals. Read the bad weather terms of your booking before you pay.
  • At Fly With Ananta, we suggest keeping at least one spare day after the yatra. It protects your onward flight or train from a weather delay.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu put the priority simply: “Our foremost responsibility is to ensure that every pilgrim completes this sacred journey safely.” A grounded flight is a safety call, so plan time and money for it.

Questions to Ask Before You Pay

Before you confirm your 4 Dham helicopter booking, ask a few direct questions. Clear answers now save money later.

  • Ask for a written list of inclusions and exclusions. Check flights, stays, meals, transfers, darshan help, and taxes, one line at a time.
  • Plan your cash flow around our payment plan. We take a 50% advance at booking, and the balance is due 14 days before you reach Dehradun.
  • Finish your yatra registration on the official state portal early. You will need it for puja booking as well.
  • Comparing quotes? Share them with the Fly With Ananta team and ask us to explain each line, so you compare like with like.

A good quote answers these questions before you even ask.

Your Real Yatra Budget, Line by Line

The true cost of a Char Dham Yatra by helicopter package is more than one number. With our plan, flights, stays, meals, local transfers, helipad fees, and priority darshan already sit inside the price. What sits outside is smaller, but it is real. Think puja fees, extra flying, body weight charges, insurance, and the cost of a weather delay.

Write each of these extras on one page before you book. Add a spare day and a small cash cushion on top. Then your mind stays on prayer, not on bills. If you want a clear breakdown for your family, speak to the Fly With Ananta team. We will walk you through every inclusion and every extra before you pay.

FAQs

1. Is GST included in the package price?

Yes. Our base package price is all-inclusive. Extras are different. Additional flying, for example, is billed with GST on top, along with UCADA royalty and landing charges. Ask for the full amount in writing before you agree to it.

    2. What happens if bad weather cancels my Kedarnath flight?

Flights wait until it is safe to fly. You may need an extra night near the helipad. Who pays for that night, meals and the rebooked flight depends on your booking terms, so read the cancellation policy carefully.

      3. Do I pay separately for pujas at Kedarnath and Badrinath?

Usually, yes. Special pujas are booked with the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee, not your tour operator. You need yatra registration before booking a puja. Check current rates and book only on the official BKTC website to avoid paying fake agents.

        4. How much luggage can I carry on the helicopter?

Each pilgrim gets one soft bag of up to 5 kg. Keep large suitcases at your Dehradun hotel. Carry warm layers, medicines, documents and a rain jacket. Also remember that passengers weighing above 75 kg pay ₹2,000 per extra kg.

          5. Do I need travel insurance?

It is a smart extra. Buy a separate policy that covers high-altitude travel, medical help, and flight cancellations. Read the exclusions. Also speak to your doctor before you travel, since flying does not remove the effects of high altitude.
